Founded by Blessed John Henry Newman in 1859, The Oratory Preparatory School is a co-educational Roman Catholic boarding and day school which stands in its own 60-acre estate, high above the Thames in South Oxfordshire and easily accessible by train and road (via the M4 from London and Heathrow airport). The OPS welcomes children of all faith traditions.
What parents recognise and value in us is the Catholic model of educating the whole child - morally, spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually - recognising that every single child is unique and precious and has something valuable to offer. We have an excellent record of achievement, with pupils gaining many academic, art, music, sports and all-rounder awards to major independent senior schools; in 2011 a record 22 awards were made by senior schools to OPS pupils. Our Pre-Prep department was classified as 'outstanding' in a recent Ofsted inspection (Summer 2008).
The boarding house is run by a resident husband-and-wife team who care for our 30 or so full and weekly boarders, offering a friendly 'home from home' experience and a full and fun programme of weekend activities. We also offer a flexi-boarding option, which is extremely popular, especially on tuck nights! The Ofsted inspection in 2009 described the boarding as \happy, safe and fun'.
Do come and see us at our stand at the Battersea show. We also warmly invite you to visit the school for a personal show round by Joseph Smith, the Headmaster, truly to experience the school. Come and meet our hugely talented, committed and enthusiastic staff, and our ambitious and happy pupils. Come and see our excellent facilities, our wonderful swimming pool and our beautiful 60 acres of playing fields and woods.
